Hello from the Head…

On Monday Miss Wreford spoke to the whole school about ‘British Values’ - Democracy, The Rule of Law, Individual Liberty, Mutual Respect and Tolerance. We will be discussing these values in assemblies and in class over this half term. Please do talk to your children about them.

Thank you for your patience while our new website is being developed; unfortunately some of the updated information was not transferred over by the company, so we are in the process of manually doing this. For information, our new safeguarding policy is on the policies page for your reference.

We are looking forward to next Wednesday – our first class assembly of the year is Turtles! Please do join us in the hall from 2:45pm to see what the Turtles have been learning. Next Friday 26th September we celebrate the European Day of Languages, Mr Dart will be sending out information soon.

We pride ourselves at Astley on our community and we are currently seeking some new School Governors. The role requires enthusiasm, an interest in school and teamwork. Please do make contact with our lovely Chair, Dr Graham Pickhaver, if you are interested or would like to find out more: gpickhaver@astleyprimary.org.uk

In addition, you received a letter from our fantastic Friends of Astley yesterday. The Friends have been a special part of our community for so long, and if they aren’t able to recruit new members, then sadly the committee will have to dissolve. Please consider this opportunity and come along to the AGM on Wednesday 15th October at 2pm. This week Mrs Lord has chosen our feel-good tunes. Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Mrs Goakes
