Our School

Governance

Astley Primary School is part of the SYNERGY Multi-Academy Trust comprising of fifteen Norfolk schools with a board of Directors having overall responsibility.

As a local governing board (LGB) we are mainly responsible in the areas of teaching and learning. It is our role both to the school and to the Directors to work together with the Headteacher, staff and pupils to produce a successful learning environment. To do this we set the strategic direction for the school, agree targets for pupil achievement and ensure a proper curriculum is in place. In addition we monitor and evaluate progress and attainment as set against the School’s Improvement Development Plan.

The LGB is made up of ten governors representing parents, the community, staff and Headteacher. Meetings take place every half-term.

All parent and community governors are allocated to a class in order to give them a greater understanding of day-to-day school life and to get to know pupils and staff. Each term we have what we call a Deep Dive Day when governors spend a day in school looking at particular topics and meeting groups of pupils and staff. We try to be involved in school as much as we can.

The minutes from our meetings are available to view from the school office or via the link from this webpage. As governors we welcome comments from parents regarding the school at any time. You can contact the Governors via the school office or you can email the Chair of Governors with any questions or comments you may have.
