I started the week talking all about ‘Empathy’ and how important a skill / value this is. The children showed great understanding and we also linked it to Safer Internet Day which we celebrated on Tuesday. All classes got involved and we explored many areas of internet use, including AI and how we can use this responsibly. Our visitor PC Elliott led an assembly for Key Stage Two and talked all about safety on devices and what to do if we are worried or unsure. It was a really informative and fun day – thank you to Mrs Hamilton for organising.

What a super first full week we have had! Our Tigers and Penguins loved their first Forest School session of the year and have already been learning and practising so many outdoor and science related skills, including making Christmas Tree Tea! Dolphins started their swimming sessions, Sharks have been taking part in Bikeability and our Lions did some checking in with our honey bees; a real hive of activity!

We have loved kicking Christmas off here at Astley – with sparkle and festive spirit in full swing! What better way to round off the week than with our Friends Christmas Fair. The fun begins after school in the hall, and we can’t wait to see as many of you there as possible supporting our community. Christmas card boxes are located by the office and in Hastings building, if children wish to send cards to their friends. Well done to Penguins class for their assembly this week; it was lovely to see their learning and term so far. Turtles and Dolphins have both been out on trips this week. Turtles had a fantastic day at the Time and Tide Museum and Dolphins experienced an enriching day at West Stow. Today we celebrate EDoL through the theme – ‘Languages open hearts and minds.’ Mr Dart has planned an exciting day exploring how languages can empower us and enable us to communicate and understand other cultures.
