I’m Rob Bellow and I am passionate about education. I have two children and several nieces at Astley Primary School who are thoroughly enjoying their school experience. I enjoy seeing their progression from a personal viewpoint, across different age groups at the school.
I am a Research Associate in the Department of Plant Sciences and the Botanic Garden at the University of Cambridge, researching the evolution of emergent traits. I regularly deliver lectures and seminars at the University and internationally. I tutor students with particular needs when required and am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. I am a passionate scientist with a sense of wonder of the natural world. I hope to pass on some of my enthusiasm to the next generation.
Teaching and learning have been prevalent in my academic career. I believe strongly in helping children to become independent thinkers, to be critical of (mis)information and to prepare them for the future. I use tools (such as microscopes and computational methods) that will hopefully spark an interest later on in their own learning.
